MRAA presents Kind of Blue at the Gumenick Family Gallery, The Cultural Center at Glen Allen.
Jul 15 – Sep 12, 2022

Blue is the color of trust, responsibility, and relaxation. Depending on the tone, blue symbolizes loyalty or authority. Within blue’s emotional range is the capacity to evoke calm and serene. The sky is blue, suggesting the expansive heavens, and the possibilities before us. “Kind of Blue” is also a 1959 studio album by American jazz trumpeter Miles Davis. The reviewers commented that the recording “lured listeners in with a slow, luxurious bassline and gentle piano chords that produced a relaxed feel, as the music flowed easily” within the structures of modal jazz. The art of this show uses the color blue to call forth these emotions.

This large showcase venue is perfect for exhibiting up to three of your 2022 artworks. We can’t wait to see your interpretation of the theme!
