Monthly Saturday morning meetings – Our monthly Saturday morning meetings feature local professional artists, artist’s materials manufacturer’s reps, gallery owners and more. We’ll even splash some paint around: professional and teaching artists present live demos at these meetings. We have an annual Holiday Party as well, and Member Share events, so you can see what your fellow artists are creating. And in addition, we’ll take field trips to artist’s studios and art museums.

Social Media: Members are eligible to join our Facebook group and make Instagram posts.
Exhibitions: The Metropolitan Richmond Artists Association provides numerous exhibition opportunities each year including large group shows at cultural hubs of the city, small 2-and-3 person shows, and solo show options.
Critique Group: One of our most popular benefits is the monthly critique group where members gather to enjoy a little winning of both kinds, and provide peer group feedback in a supportive environment.
Broad Assortment of Media: We have members who work in digital media, collage, photography, printmaking, sculpture, mosaics, and of course painters, in both abstraction and realism.

Annual dues are $47 per year via PayPal or $45 if paid by cash or check for both Exhibiting Members and Associate Members.
Proration: If joining between January 1 and June 30, dues are prorated to $25.

Membership Instructions
Exhibiting Membership: Artists wishing to join and exhibit are juried. The ability to upload digital images for show catalog is required.
Associate Membership: Non-exhibiting artist membership is also encouraged.
Jury Process
In order to begin the jury process for Exhibiting Membership, please contact the membership chairperson via phone or email at least 5 days in advance of the monthly meeting you wish to attend with your artwork. We will alert our membership to be in attendance by 10:00 to participate in the jurying process at the beginning of the meeting.
You will present at least five (5) current pieces. Those pieces and your online application will be used for the jury process. Our monthly meetings take place September through May on the second Saturday of the month, from 10:00 a.m. until noon.
Please bring a minimum of five (5) examples of your best work, in your preferred media. At least 3 should be “gallery display ready”. (Details below.) Please be sure your work is clearly marked with your name and medium on the back.
Leading members in attendance at the meeting will review your work and render an acceptance or conditional acceptance by the end of the meeting. Once your work is reviewed and accepted by our jury, you will be placed into the exhibiting member category receiving all benefits associated with the exhibiting member level.
If your work is not accepted at this time as an Exhibiting Member, you will automatically become an Associate Member until you are ready to resubmit your work. You may resubmit in a subsequent quarter.
Art Work Requirements
- Include 5 artworks ready for gallery presentation. Work should be framed (wrapped canvases may have painted edges and no staples) complete with wired hanging hardware. 3-dimensional works should have examples of pedestal/support used for gallery events.
- In the case of 3D work, you may use photos that also show the pedestal and mounting.
